Installer network
Fit the glass that has two states.
We are building a network of electricians, glaziers, tinters and builders to install DualState properly. Training provided.
Why install DualState
A product that is simple to fit and easy to explain.
If you already wire, glaze, tint or fit out commercial and residential spaces, switchable glass is a natural next line of work. You bring the trade. We bring the product, the method and the support.
A dry installation
No wet trades and no long cure times. Clean, apply, seal and connect, with a repeatable process your crew can learn once.
We train you first
Installer onboarding covers handling, testing, edge sealing and wiring, so your first job is not your first attempt.
Someone to call
Talk a job through with our team before you start, including virtual assistance on larger or trickier panels.
A referral pathway
Customers asking for a trusted fitter are pointed to certified installers in our network, in the areas we cover.
Install guide
Four steps from dusty to switchable.
This is the core method. Your onboarding goes deeper on cutting, large panels and wiring, and the product spec sheet always has the final word.
Clean the glass
Wipe with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol or smart glass spray and a lint-free cloth. Scrape stubborn marks with a plastic blade. The glass must be fully dry before the film touches it.
Dust under the film shows as a bump
Test the film
Connect power and switch the film on and off. Confirm it moves between clear and frosted across the whole sheet before you apply anything.
Test first, always
Apply the film
Leave a small margin from the glass edge as set out in the spec. Peel the backing back in sections and smooth from the centre outward with a felt-edged card to push out bubbles.
Two or three people for large panels
Seal and connect
Seal the exposed edges with the supplied sealant, then connect the wiring. Keep the two conductive contacts apart and away from any metal frame.
Insulate every joint
Power and control
Low voltage in. Four ways to switch.
Each panel runs from a power control unit on low voltage. Clients choose how they want to command it, and you wire it to suit.
Before you start
- Work clean. A bright, dust-free space makes the film go on the first time.
- Handle gently. The film does not forgive folds or creases.
- Bring help. Large panels need two or three people on the sheet.
- Indoors only. Not for curved glass and not for exterior surfaces.

Questions
Before you apply.
What is DualState glass?
It is switchable glass built on a liquid crystal film. Power it and it turns clear. Cut the power and it turns frosted for privacy. Because it switches on command, one pane does the work of a window and a partition.
Do I need experience with smart glass?
No. You need a trade, careful hands and a willingness to follow the method. Our training covers the film, the wiring and the testing routine.
Is it waterproof?
That depends on the product and how it is installed. Edges must be sealed, and the film is for indoor use only. Your training and the spec sheet cover wet areas such as bathrooms.
What warranty applies?
Warranty terms for the film and the power control unit are set out in your installer agreement. Ask about them on your intro call.
Can a customer install it themselves?
The dry method makes it possible, and some do. We still recommend a professional, especially for large panels and wiring, which is where installers in our network come in.
